FEELING SILENCES
Milan, IT / The intention of “feeling silences” is to be an architecture where the disruptive noise of the city pauses for some time while visiting. The programs are related to introspection and attention, like studying (library), conversation with one another (café), experiencing art (exhibition, performances). From the entrance, the project is to be discovered as it is visited. The composition of the building is an experimentation of architecture that deals with silence. The classification of case studies of architectures of silence led to a synthesis of elements of silence, that makes a project an architecture that deals with silence; these are elements such as materiality, the rhythmic repetition and the use of pure shapes alongside organic ones. The visit to the building and its outdoor areas (path, hill, garden) ends with the arrival to the canalside, which is seen as the reflection point of the visit to “feeling silences”, perhaps a stillness and introspection to take back into the noise of the city and to return to when desired.
